The concept of harmony and tranquillity. Finding contentment and peace in one’s surroundings and appreciating the beauty of the ordinary.

In a busy world it can be difficult to justify a moment of tranquillity but it is essential to navigate stress and ensure a revitalising sleep. Our Nagomi fragrance is packed full of essential oils like Bergamot, Rose Geranium, Lavender and Ylang Ylang to target your calming hormones ideally before bed or especially when you are feeling overwhelmed. By shiny a light on this scent you will be transported to a world where worries melt away.

Bergamot

Bergamot is extracted from the rind of Citrus Bergamia and originated in South East Asia. It is rather lovingly known as the Prince of Citrus and is a sunny fresh scent which forms the basis of our top note in our Nagomi frangrance. If it didn’t have a wrinkled green outer layer it could be mistaken for a lime. Despite poorly designed studies there has been evidence Bergamot inhalation reduces anxiety and fatigue with some physiological changes of reducing heart rate which tends to speed up when we feel worried. It has been found in some studies to provide a more refreshed sleep.

Rose Geranium

Welcome to our sweeter, softer and more floral variety of geranium. It is cultivated from the same species as Geranium but is a slightly different variety making it more expensive. Individually picked flowers are steam distilled with this variety being richer in citronellol and geraniol. This means that is more comparable to rose oil. Although, there are no specific studies into rose geranium, geranium essential oil aroma has been shown to reduce anxiety, pain and fatigue in some smaller studies which is why it is a perfect ingredient in our tranquil Nagomi blend.

Lavender

My sister-in-law loves lavender and enjoyed a candle-lit bath to relax in the evening. She inspired me to plant it in my garden and the distinctive floral smell alongside the beautiful purple blooms signal the beginning of Summer to me.

We use French lavender in our Nagomi blend which is usually harvested at the height of Summer. Steam distillation creates an oil rich in Linalool and Linalyl acetate. The calming and sedative effects of lavender come from the impact the aroma has on our smell (olfactory) receptors through pathways to our brains where calming hormones like serotonin are released. Lavender is one of the few essential oils with a bit of evidence behind it in several studies.

Ylang Ylang

This essential oil is extracted from the petals of the Cananga Odorata tree which is native in South East Asia. This exotic, sweet and slightly musky scent is derived from fragrant yellow flowers and there are several small studies to support the calming and sedative effects of inhaling this essential oil. Providing the base note in our Nagomi blend, Ylang Ylang helps us transport you to pure tropical tranquillity.
