This unique blend of essential oils contains grapefruit and bergamot to promote feelings of vitality and lift mood. The addition of oakmoss adds a fresh earthiness that grounds the fragrance in the natural world.
Bergamot
Bergamot is extracted from the rind of Citrus Bergamia (The Prince of Citrus) and originated in South East Asia. There has been some evidence from scientific studies that bergamot inhalation reduces anxiety and fatigue with associated physiological changes such as reduced heart rate, – a sign of calm – which tends to increase again when we feel worried. It has been found in some studies to provide a more restful sleep. It is a clean, citrus fragrance.
Grapefruit
This is a zesty and fresh addition to our Boketto fragrance. It is made by "cold pressing" which involves puncturing the peel and separating out the juice from the lighter essential oil. It contains more than 90% limonene and although lacking extensive clinical studies, the aroma is thought to regulate our emotions, memories and hormone production by targeting our limbic system in the brain. By modulating pathways in our brain that rely on brain chemicals such as GABA and serotonin, it can help worries melt away and balance our moods. There have been some small studies suggesting that our stress hormone, cortisol, is lowered by the presence of limonene although there is still more work to be done researching this wonderful essential oil.
Oakmoss
This is a lichen called Evernia prunastri which grows on the bark of oak trees as well as on some ferns and pine trees in central and southern Europe. Oakmoss absolute is extracted, dried and aged. It is known to give deep earthy and woody aromas which bring the benefits of the natural world to the Boketto fragrance. We have a beautiful oak tree in our garden and it is a joy to watch it change through the seasons. I could gaze up at it for hours.
